Understanding Human Behaviour PDF Print E-mail

According to Webster's Dictionary, behaviour is defined as the manner of behaving: conduct, manners and carriage of oneself, with respect to propriety or morals. It also defines behavior as an organism's muscular or glandular response to stimulation, especially that can be observed. Thus behaviour in the broader sense implies thinking, feeling, doing, attitude and habits.

The Goodself And The Lesser Self

Human behaviour can be positive or negative. Positive behaviour is our goodself while the negative behaviour is our lesser self. To identify our goodself and lesser self, let us look at languages regardless of any tribe, which describes our thinking, feeling, doing, attitude and habits in a context, which can be either positive or negative. It can be of any structure and sound. It can also be a word, a phrase, a sentence or a context in any language.

For example:

From the above we can conclude that human beings are imperfect as we have both the goodself and the lesser self.

According to Carl Jung, we have the God and Devil in us. Therefore, human being lies in the continuum of the divine being and the lesser being as seen in the diagram below:

Those who have more goodself are closer to the divine being while those with more lesser self are closer to the lesser being. We can cultivate our goodself and move towards the divine being. Alternatively, we can also cultivate our lesser being and head towards the lesser being. In other words we can walk from darkness to light. We can also walk from light to darkness.
